BTC begins rehearsals for its 5th anniversary concert starting January 15, 2023 at St. Paul UCC, 3510 Giles Ave., 63116. Check-in begins at 4:15 and rehearsal begins at 5. We’d ask that new singers come during the check-in time so I can meet with you and do some vocalization with you for section placement, etc. You'll be asked to sing a short melody, and we'll figure out what your range is, etc. – a totally low-key, stress-free process. We’ll have “open” rehearsals on Jan 15, 22, and 29 for new singers to take us for a test drive.
The mission of the Black Tulip Chorale is to advocate for social consciousness through excellence in the performance of choral music while providing an affirming environment for all regardless of expression, gender, identity, or orientation. BTC hopes you’ll sing with us this spring – it’s our 5th anniversary season! Our concert on May 21 will feature music honoring some major milestones in LGBTQ+ history through a variety of music ranging from Cyndi Lauper to Johann Sebastian Bach. We’ve very excited to give the world premiere of a brand new piece written just for us by renowned Kansas City-based composer Ryan Main. If you have questions, feel free to contact us at [email protected]. We hope to see you at a rehearsal soon!
